This step-by-step guide will help you safely replace the internal battery on your Dell XPS 13-9360 laptop.

Important: Power off the laptop, unplug the AC adapter, and disconnect all external devices before starting.
Remove the base cover
- Flip the laptop over.
- Use your fingertip to open the system badge (center of base cover).
- Remove the one M1.6×6 screw beneath the badge.
- Remove the eight Torx screws (M2×3) securing the base cover.
- Starting from the back, insert a plastic scribe and gently pry the cover loose.
- Lift the base cover off and set it aside.
Remove the battery
- Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
- Peel off the tape securing the speaker cable to the battery (6 locations).
- Remove the one M1.6×4 screw and the three M2×2 screws securing the battery.
- Lift the battery carefully off the palm-rest assembly.
Install the battery
- Place the new battery in the chassis, aligning it with the screw holes.
- Secure it with the one M1.6×4 screw and three M2×2 screws.
- Reconnect the battery cable to the system board.
- Reapply the speaker cable tape across the battery.
- Align and snap the base cover into place.
- Reinstall the eight Torx screws (M2×3) and the M1.6×6 screw beneath the system badge.
- Close the system badge.
Post-install checks
- Turn the laptop right side up, open the display, and press the power button for about 5 seconds to ground the system.
- Connect the AC adapter and power on the laptop.
- Verify the battery is detected and charging (check via Windows taskbar or BIOS > Battery Information).
- Allow the battery to fully charge to 100% before heavy use.
- Recycle the old battery properly according to local e-waste rules.
